Weber Grills Has Bad Timing

Well, timing is key especially when emailing out great recipes to use on your grill. Last Friday, Weber Grills sent out what was supposed to be just another weekly recipe, this time one for BBQ meatloaf. But what they weren’t aware of, was that the news that singer and actor Meat Loaf had passed away was just shared hours before. So, it was a little awkward to see Weber telling people a great way to grill a meatloaf Friday morning given the situation.

Obviously this wasn’t some sort of joke on Weber’s part. That weekly email blast is most likely planned months out at a time. So there was no way for them to know that the day they were sharing how to grill a great meatloaf would be the same day we all learned Meat Loaf had died. I think most people understood there was no foul play in their weekly recipe.

Either way, Weber did feel the need to apologize in case they had offended anyone. The email read like this:

“In today’s email we highlighted a grilled meatloaf recipe. At the time we shared this recipe with you, we were not aware of the unfortunate passing of American singer and actor Mr. Marvin Lee Aday, also known as Meat Loaf.

We want to express our deepest apologies for this oversight and for any offense this email may have caused.

We send our condolences to Mr. Aday’s family and fans.”
