36 years ago today, Michael Jackson made history as the first act to achieve five No. 1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 from one album. On that date, his “Dirty Diana” climbed from No. 2 to No. 1, giving Jackson his fifth and final leader from his album “Bad,” his follow-up to 1982’s “Thriller,” the all-time best selling studio album (29-times Platinum, according to the RIAA).
“Dirty Diana” followed four prior chart-toppers from “Bad”: “I Just Can’t Stop Loving You” (with Siedah Garrett), the title track, “The Way You Make Me Feel” and “Man in the Mirror.”
Since then, only one other act has matched the five-fold feat. Katy Perry notched five No. 1s from her 2010 album “Teenage Dream”: “California Gurls” (featuring Snoop Dogg), the title cut, “Firework,” “E.T.” (featuring Kanye West) and “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.).” (Perry has since claimed another No. 1 on the Hot 100 with “Part of Me,” the first single from the “Dream” expanded deluxe re-issue “The Complete Confection.” While Perry has tallied six Hot 100 No. 1s from “Dream” and its re-released version, she remains tied with Jackson for the most toppers from an album over one release.)
Jackson’s “Bad” album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 dated Sept. 26, 1987, and spent six weeks atop the list. It was reissued in an expanded 25th anniversary edition in 2012, adding a robust amount of extra material and previously unreleased tracks.

I also discovered a website Jackson Dynasty where a man named Fred and dedicated his life to the Jackson family, especially Michael and Janet. I tried to search this fact on there and seems to be missing. He did have an interesting facts about the details of the song Dirty Diana which he was planning to perform again on his “This Is It” tour. The set up for the song would include an expert pole dancer who would lure Jackson onto a giant steel bed on which she performed acrobatic feats.
